“Penngrade” high-performance engine oil is rich in zinc and phosphorous as required by classic engines with flat valve tappets and high spring pressures. These additives have now been removed from modern engine oils sold by auto parts stores and other sources, as they are no longer required in modern engines. Do NOT use Penngrade oil in cars with catalytic converters.
GL4 gear lube is not generally available in auto parts stores, but it is the correct type for older gearboxes and differentials with yellow metal bushes and thrust washers. Commonly available lubes will actually damage these components. The lube listed here is formulated especially for classic cars with yellow metal components.
